Out and About--Breakfast at Soho House

To kick off the holiday weekend, I started with a lovely breakfast over at Soho House. It was really perfect as Friday was one of the rare days when it was actually sunny in the morning in Los Angeles. Thus, I enjoyed breakfast with a bright and breathtaking view of the city and ocean from their garden, next to a pond surrounded by ten olives trees...and this is on the roof, of course. They have amazing food there, too--everything organic--and chose an egg white omelette with asparagus and tomatoes and fresh baked wheat bread with homemade jam.

And once again I learned about their strict "NO PHOTOS" policy, which is firmly in place due to the number of celebrities who frequent Soho House. I just happened to be fortunate enough to be with a member who could take me into their Private Room to snap a few quick--and I mean quick--pics before we left for the day.

A little red, white, and blue:  1960s ice blue pique dress tipped in white, 1960s black Hitchcockian handbag, 1960s onyx and silver bangle bracelet, silver hoop earrings, black Guess peeptoe slingbacks, and 1950s black cardigan sweater (shown above and below).  Essie's A-List red polish on toes.

As often happens, my inspiration came from Edith Head.  When I originally found my dress, it seemed a combination of a couple outfits worn by Grace Kelly in Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief.

Essie's A-List (don't you love that name?) with my black platform peeptoes.
Essie's Waltz--almost the only manicure I ever wear--with my bangle bracelet.

Out and About--Alexander McQueen and Soho House

The other night I met up with a friend to talk shop about GlamAmor.  First stop?  The Alexander McQueen store on Melrose.  My friend runs the shop and since it was after hours, there was absolutely no one there.  It felt like a giant walk in closet!

Melrose Place:  1960s orange/lime/pink/white jersey dress, 1960s white leather frame bag, Jewelry by M for GlamAmor matching lucite bracelet and earrings, Charles David white leather strappy sandals

Many vintage inspired dresses at Alexander McQueen

Like a kid in a candy store...

Heading toward the Hollywood Hills from Melrose.  Next stop? Soho House on Sunset.

The lounge where we watched the Lakers beat the Celtics in game 7 and win the championship!

Enjoying my champagne on the enormous balcony outside overlooking the city

Soho House has a strict no photos policy, which I didn't know before going, and nearly got bounced out of the place for snapping the ones I did!  Ironic considering that they have an entire hallway dedicated to photo booths and ask that you tack your pictures on the wall.
