Out and About--Casual in Marina del Rey

When I first moved to Los Angeles almost two decades ago, I was clueless as to all the communities that make up the greater Los Angeles area and had no idea how fortunate I was to have landed on the Westside. I almost immediately met my best friend, who actually happened to live on a boat in Marina del Rey. It was an amazing time. We were both young and still struggling, yet being in Marina del Rey made those struggles seem less somehow.  He had lucked into one of the best slips in the marina, which included access to a pool that was right next to the dock.  Believe me, there is nothing like being surrounded by water all the time and the beauty of all those boats in the marina.

As we walked around the marina on this particular evening, I still found that there's nothing like listening to the boats bumping around with the waves that gently roll in with the tide.  Add a beautiful sunset and some summer cocktails at a local restaurant, and it made for a very lovely evening.

Summer evening stroll:  Faded jean jacket (found at a vintage store), Victoria's Secret basic white t-shirt, black sequin miniskirt (found at a vintage store), 1970s black patent leather satchel, black J. Crew flip flops, gold hoop earrings, gold Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses

Loved by locals in the Marina, the Chart House is tucked in amongst the apartments and boats
and is a great place for cocktails and a bite to eat

Finally heading home...
