Farewell, Elizabeth Taylor (1932 - 2011)

Today we say goodbye to the last of true Hollywood royalty--Elizabeth Taylor.  She was one of the first I featured on GlamAmor and I'll do a fitting tribute to her and her style soon.  Though she was an actress, her own life often eclipsed the art.  It was an ongoing drama from her earliest years and I encourage you to read her biography if you haven't already done so.  Her married name alone gives you some sense of the drama--Elizabeth Taylor Hilton Wilding Todd Fisher Burton Burton Warner Fortensky.  For better or for worse, Liz lived life to the fullest and I truly believe that there is much to admire in that quality alone.  Add to that her stunning beauty and innate talent, and you know that there won't be anyone like her again.

Turner Classic Movies will be doing a tribute of Elizabeth Taylor's movies all day April 10th if you'd like to marvel in what has made her so magical to millions of people.  My favorites fill the evening lineup--Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Butterfield 8, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and Giant.  I know I'll be watching.
