Talk will be followed by a

Guest speaker
The Egyptian Theatre

Co-presented by the American Cinematheque and Art Deco Society

Art Deco made an impact in many ways all over the world - from architecture to interior design to fashion. Hollywood quickly took notice and began to bring their vision of Art Deco to the masses. Fashion designers were recruited to become costume designers, and many costume designers influenced the fashion design of the era.

In this illustrated presentation, you will see the evolution of Art Deco costume design - from its origins around 1925 to how it changed while moving toward the Streamline Moderne movement of the mid-1930s. You will also learn about the artists behind the design and some of the most influential fashion on film as seen on stars Gloria Swanson, Joan Crawford, Louise Brooks, Marlene Dietrich, Kay Francis, and Ginger Rogers.

That will be a great occasion for the attendees Kimberly! Its a wonderful film with great Art Deco sets as you know. I screened it recently at the Coronado Library in conjunction with our Art Deco exhibition. So sorry I won't be there, but I know everybody will have a great time.
