Out and About--Santa Monica Place Reopening

There have been so many great things going on over the past few weeks--both personally and professionally--that my life's just been an absolute blur.  I didn't even have time to post pics from the show stopping Santa Monica Place re-opening!  So let's hop into the ol' time machine for a moment and ride back to August 6th...

The weather's been challenging and cold all summer long, but was gorgeous and sunny for the opening

The excited masses beneath the beginning of the new Santa Monica Place,
right at the foot of 3rd Street Promenade

The new Santa Monica Place has much more upscale stores than the old one did--Tiffany's, Louis Vuitton, and Michael Kors just to name a few.  It now also boasts a wine bar and observation deck where you can gaze out over the blue Pacific Ocean while you drink and dine.

All American:  1960s Powder Pink Mockneck Dress (on sale at the GlamAmor Store), J. Crew black patent leather belt, 1950s black patent leather frame bag, black snakeskin Charles David pumps, black and gold beaded drop earrings, single skinny gold bangle bracelet, 1960s black cropped cardigan

Various artists and groups designed mannequins that decorated the mall

My friend Erika invited me to a champagne reception for the opening of the new Eva Varro boutique

As a resident, I couldn't be more thrilled by the new Santa Monica Place!

Shopping with GlamAmor Party

Saturday was my first Shopping with GlamAmor event and it was so much fun!  I was excited to share the entirety of the GlamAmor collection with all the ladies and it was great to put everything together in a pop up shop.  The weather was sunny and breezy and made for a lovely backdrop to the party.

Welcome to the GlamAmor pop up shop!

Pretty in Pink:  1960s hot pink mini dress, silver Charles David strappy stilettos,
silver hoop earrings, stack of silver bangle bracelets from Mexico.  Essie's Plumberry polish on toes.

Michelle arrived looking amazing in one of the GlamAmor dresses she already owns,
a 1960s lagoon blue silk minidress

Molly in what became known as "The Molly" dress, a 1960s inspired navy polkadot dress from the 1980s.
Sweet, seemingly innocent, but oh so sexy...just like her!

Michelle stunning everyone with her perfection in this 1950s vanilla silk brocade dress with fur trim

This 1960s red crinkle crepe cocktail dress with rosette trim was also a winner on Michelle

Thanks to the ladies for coming to the party!  It was so great to see you.
Can't wait to see you all in your new dresses!

Cinema Style File--Julie Christie's Hair Inspiration

This month on Turner Classic Movies is their Summer Under the Stars, where each day is devoted to an individual actor or actress.  The other day was dedicated to the gorgeous and talented Julie Christie.  As movies like Darling, Doctor Zhivago, and Shampoo shone on my television screen, I was reminded just how luminescent Julie is on film.  There's simultaneously an innocence and intelligence about her that I admire.  And she still looks stunning today.  Absolutely ageless.

Julie's hair is beyond beautiful and has always been one of my favorite points of inspiration over the years.  That 1960s bedhead hair of hers--along with Brigitte Bardot's--never seems to go out of style and has continued to be a popular request in today's hair salons.  I know you'll understand why once you see some of her best looks here.  I think you'll be smitten, too.

Julie's hair is most often long and layered with volume at the crown and multi-functional bangs

Her updo...particularly prominent in Doctor Zhivago

The famous asymmetrical bob from Shampoo that's been an influence on my own hair
